So, you are a new DM with a wonderful idea for a campaign. You’ve got it all planned out, down to the one liners your bad guy will throw at your players in their final, epic encounter. Unfortunately, you’ve got no players to play with. Boo-hoo. What do you do? Go back to kill the […]

May 19, 2009

So this is the cover to Player’s Handbook 3? May be old news, but I’ve never seen it. Ki we know is gone, but is the Shadow power source gone? Have we seen the last of new power sources with the Psionic power? Minotaur and Githyanki races, nice. Interesting… how many more PHB’s will […]

10th anniversary of ‘The Phantom Menace’

May 19, 2009

Folks, want to feel old? Today (May 19th) marks the 10th anniversary of the release of The Phantom Menace in theatres accross the United States. Fans waited for 16 years to see a new SW movie in the theatres. For some, it would be the first time they saw a SW film projected unto the silver […]

Bribe your players with bonus tokens.

May 16, 2009

I’m going to start something new in my campaign in order to speed up gameplay. I run 7 players right now, and sometimes the game grinds to a halt due to slow decision making during combat. I understand that the tactical nature of 4th Ed. somewhat created this situation, as opposed to other, more abstract forms of […]

Continuing the theme of yesterday’s post, where I gave some tips for the new DM, today I’m making something available for download. If you are a new DM, and are planning on running (which I highly recommend) the Kobold Hall adventure in the back of the DMG then you should download this PDF I’ve put […]

Advice for new DM’s only!

May 14, 2009

Experienced DM’s, this article is not for you, so move along. Nothing to see here… In July, it’ll be a year since I started DM’ing. Unfortunately, we don’t get to play as often as I’d like, so my time behind the screen doesn’t come about often enough. Nevertheless, the amount of time we do get […]
