Has The First DnD Next Product Been Spoiled By Amazon?

November 27, 2012 by

Found this on Amazon: “Storm Over Baldur’s Gate: Sundering Adventure 1″ Are we looking at the first dndnext adventure? There’s no system in the product description, but it’s fair to say that 4e is dead when it comes to product releases… Interesting times….. Releases in 2013, but dndnext is more than likely arriving in 2014……

2nd Edition D&D Coming Back, Old Modules Coming Back… What’s Next?

November 2, 2012 by

It seems that Wizards of the Coast is on a reprint kick. Of course, it’s easy to figure out why.  4th Ed. is on its way out, and at this point that’s more reality than speculation.  Books haven’t been announced, and yeah, Dungeon/Dragon content is still being released, but…. obviously 5th Ed. is king right […]

Playtester profile interview about DnD Next DMing

August 10, 2012 by

I haven’t really written much yet about D&D Next, but I will, but right now’s not the time.  I’ve given my opinion here or there, but I haven’t really reviewed the game or anything like that.  WOTC published an interview today with me for their playtester profile series… If you’d like my general opinion about […]

Take the muzzle off, D&D Next is Here!

May 24, 2012 by

Last December, I was supposed to be part of that now famous group of people who flew to WOTC headquarters and participated in the first demonstration of what is now being referred top as “Dnd Next”, or as I call it, 5e.  We were NOT told it was for 5e, but rather for a conference […]

To Grid Or Not To Grid, That Is The Question… And Another Topic…

April 18, 2012 by

There’s been some talk lately about the infamous “GRID” in rpg’s. It’s come up in conversations about DnDNext, and whether or not people prefer to play with it or would rather go the “theatre of the mind route”.  I also heard Will Wheaton on the latest Jennisodes podcast refer to 4e as basically a “board […]

D&D Virtual Table Demo

February 13, 2012 by

I was contacted by Johnn Four (roleplayingtips.com) and Tony Medeiros of fastercombat.com about publishing an article regarding the WOTC D&D virtual table, and a guided tour that they were given by Game Table Online (the group managing WOTC’s virtual table I believe).  I agreed to publish the article, so here it is, by Tony Madeiros. […]

TheSheDM Reviews: Terraclips

January 26, 2012 by

Last weekend our Friday night DM surprised us with a fantastic pair of maps made from Terraclips and D&D tiles for our campaign finale. I had never heard or seen these strange tile-and-clip things, so I asked him about it. I was also surprised by how sturdy the structure was – he picked it up […]

So what will happen to the Forgotten Realms?

A rather clever guy on twitter named @newbiedm tweeted the following after 5e was announced: I wonder if Elminster will wake up next to Bob Newhart and realize it was all a dream. Funny, right?  Yeah, he’s pretty clever.  But while he was probably trying to be cute, the question about what the heck to do with […]

A new edition of D&D is coming

January 9, 2012 by

So the cat is out of the bag… Not that I was hiding the cat in the bag, because I didn’t know anything, but the cat’s out of the bag.  There’s a new D&D in the works, and an open playtest will help chart its course. So what do we know about this new D&D? […]

Open Discussion: The changing role of the DM

December 20, 2011 by

Monte Cook’s “Legends and Lore” columns at Wizards.com have been interesting.  In them, he seems to be painting a picture of a theoretical future version of D&D, and while I can’t say for sure that he is, it makes sense if you assume he’s been rehired by WOTC to help design 5e.  I’m a believer […]
