On the ENnie nominations

Okay, back from a wonderful 2 week vacation… but now it’s time to get back to the blog…

A year ago I was pleasantly surprised when this blog, and its accompanying podcast, where nominated for a pair of ENnies.  Never in my wildest dreams did I expect to be nominated, and I’d be lying if I said that I didn’t feel  like my work here had finally been recognized.  This past week the ENnie nominations were announced for this year’s awards, and well, newbiedm.com did not make the list of nominated blogs.

But that’s ok, because the podcast I am on with Dave Chalker and Phil “The Chatty DM” was nominated and once again i am on cloud nine as a three time ENnie nominee! (please allow me to be excited!)

So a big thank you to the judges for recognizing our work there, and I hope we can have your vote when the polls open on Friday.

So now on to the blogs that were nominated.  I’m happy that many of my friends, people I’ve met face to face, have been nominated.  Quinn Murphy from the At-Will blog, Tracy Hurley from Sarahdarkmagic.com, and of course Dave and company over at Critical Hits have all secured a nomination, along with the gang from Gnome Stew (last year’s Silver ENnie winners).  These are all people I’ve met in person, have had lunch or dinner with, and are part of the great big rpg blogging community that I belong too.  It’s safe to assume that I’ll be able to say that a friend of mine won an ENnie come Gencon.  There is a blog on the list that I’m not familiar with, Thistle Games. I’m assuming it’s a good blog if it made the cut, so congratulations to them as well.

There are a couple of other categories that I’d like to highlight, the first is “Best RPG Related Product” where my friend Lyndsay is nominated for her awesome Dragon Chow Dice Bags, go check them out!  There’s also the “Best Setting” category, and between the Dark Suns and Pathfinders of the world, Green Ronin secured a  nomination for it’s “Song of Ice and Fire Campaign Guide”.  I admit being late to the party with A Song of Ice and Fire and only finding it thanks to HBO’s Game of Thrones, but I’ve quickly become a fan boy, scooping up the Green Ronin RPG stuff, which is fantastic.

So that’s it on the ENnies.  On friday July 15th through the 24th, voting opens.  I ask that you honor us with your vote for The Dungeon Master Guys Podcast, and wow… I can’t pick a blog to ask you to vote for in that category.  Choosing amongst your friends is hard.  Yikes.

Here is the full list of nominees
