I found a relatively easy way to level up your traps or monsters quickly directly from the compendium, without a need to copy and paste it over to Google Docs or anywhere else. It’s through a javascript that lets you edit web pages on the fly.
First, visit this page: http://www.labnol.org/internet/design/edit-web-pages-like-wiki/3832/
Follow the instructions, it’ll tell you to drag a link over to your toolbar. Once you do that, you’ll have a button on your toolbar that let’s you edit any web page live from inside your browser.
Let’s open up an item from the compendium in its own frame on your browser.
Now, let’s hit the “Edit current website” button on your toolbar, and change this puppy up…
It’s just a little bit of a quicker way to do the editing on your stat blocks, without needing to paste unto Google docs for example. After you are done, “print screen” and paste the image where ever you’d like. Done and leveled up!
Nice, no?

A great way to do the same thing is with the Firefox extension Firebug. You can edit HTML and CSS on the fly with it. Also just found out that this functionality is native in Opera too.

Awesome tip. I used a bookmarklet to do this for a while, but lately I’ve been using Ubiquity (http://labs.mozilla.com/ubiquity/) which is, hands down, one of the coolest Firefox add-ons ever.
I added a quick and dirty video to YouTube on how I do my encounters using D&DI, Ubiquity, and Photoshop: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZmxXbhmVHT0
