Last weekend our Friday night DM surprised us with a fantastic pair of maps made from Terraclips and D&D tiles for our campaign finale. I had never heard or seen these strange tile-and-clip things, so I asked him about it. I was also surprised by how sturdy the structure was – he picked it up… [Read more…]
I’m not sure what’s going on at WOTC, but the fun & interesting announcements keep on coming. Now, in support of the Gygax Memorial Fund, WOTC is planning on releasing the 1st ED. PHB, DMG, and MM. The release date is this April, and it looks like it’ll be a short print run available at… [Read more…]
As I keep digesting the news that Wizards of the Coast is already working on a follow up edition to 4e , my mind is wondering how and what they can do to accomplish the goal of bringing back fans of all previous editions under this one game. It’s a lofty goal, and I’m skeptical that it… [Read more…]
A rather clever guy on twitter named @newbiedm tweeted the following after 5e was announced: I wonder if Elminster will wake up next to Bob Newhart and realize it was all a dream. Funny, right? Yeah, he’s pretty clever. But while he was probably trying to be cute, the question about what the heck to do with… [Read more…]
So the cat is out of the bag… Not that I was hiding the cat in the bag, because I didn’t know anything, but the cat’s out of the bag. There’s a new D&D in the works, and an open playtest will help chart its course. So what do we know about this new D&D?… [Read more…]

So today we are going to look at Hollow World, kindly presented by reader (and now contributor!) Christopher. Remeber, if you have an old boxed set you’d like to snap pictures… [Read more…]

Monte Cook’s Legends are Lore articles are a little puzzling to me. They certainly take an old school approach to D&D that isn’t even present in Monte’s own version of D&D (3.0), but that’s a thought for another time… The latest article asks if ”the game presents players with challenges that have pre-made solutions?” This is something… [Read more…]
This past week I decided to seek out other ways to print out poster maps besides just using up all my ink at home. It turns out that printing some posters at the bog box stores wasn’t too expensive. Check it out. I grabbed the map for the Neverwinter region that the artist Mike Schley… [Read more…]
