I was alerted that the PRONE and DOMINATED conditions received a beating with the errata stick, so my original cards are wrong.  Here are the corrected cards.

Here are a couple of neat things I found that you can use in your D&D game.  Enjoy! First, here’s a thieves cant dictionary.   Now  your Guildmaster at the Thieve’s Guild doesn’t have to sound like he came out of 2010.   Let’s Kimbaw the Cull. Second, here’s a bunch of art from old books. … [Read more…]

This is a brief example on 3d Dungeon Tiles. I’ve written about this before, but now you can see them on these fancy moving pictures on my youtube channel thingy on the intertubes. I apologize in advance for the muffled sound, I have to get a better mic if I plan to keep making these… [Read more…]

This is the second part of the D&D 4e Combat Manager v1.6.0 overview.  In my last post I introduced the program and highlighted how simple it was to build your permanent PC/Creatures library to use in your encounters.  Now, I’ll quickly go through an actual encounter so you can see how useful this program can… [Read more…]

Here is the last part of the battlemap tutorials for NewbieDM.com, written by professional cartographer Jonathan Roberts.  Click here for part 1, and here for part 2. With this website, I’ve tried to give new DM’s out there tools, resources, and tips to run a better D&D game with.  One of the things that I’ve never been able to offer before today, simply because I have no skills at it, is a robust mapping tutorial or series.  So I reached out to… [Read more…]

Warstories: The Game Recap

November 6, 2009 by

16

Here’s a quick thing I’m sure all DM’s do in one form or another, whether it’s via email, wiki, pen and paper, or some other form:  the game recap.  In my particular case, we don’t get to game as often as most of us would like, so as game recap is a great way to… [Read more…]

Pre-Campaign Player Questionnaire

October 28, 2009 by

Many times, we as DM’s do not have the luxury of playing with a group of people we’ve know for a long time and are comfortable with.  I happen to have that luxury, playing with a group I’ve known and have been friends with for over 20 years in some cases, and haven’t had to… [Read more…]

NewbieDM Review: Kobold Quarterly 11

October 24, 2009 by

12

I had a chance to read Kobold Quarterly, a D&D magazine believed by many to be the spiritual successor to Dragon Magazine (in its print version pre-4th Ed.) and I can see why that is.  It is a nicely put together mag with tons of D&D content, whether you’re playing 3.x, Pathfinder or my system… [Read more…]
