I love getting books that add to the game in useful, solid ways. This book sounds like one that I would pick up in a heartbeat. Time to hunt for the PDF…

I don’t have a copy of it yet due to some budgetary constraints, but I hope to pick it up soon. There are quite a few Pathfinder titles that are on my “get it soon” list, and this is one of them. NewbieDM’s review just bumped up the book a few notches to place it at or near the top of the wish list. I can’t wait to get my hands on the book. One thing that made me sad about his post is that he states that he doesn’t like Pathfinder as a system. I just feel he’s missing out on some great role playing with the system. However, to each his own. I’m sure there are a few systems out there that he loves that I can’t stand. // [...]

I did a review of this book a week or two ago, from the perspective of someone who still plays AD&D 1E, and I came to the same conclusion. This is a terrific book, regardless of what fantasy RPG rules you’re running. The amount of Pathfinder-specific material is so minimal, it doesn’t detract at all from the system-neutral tables and advice. One place I disagree; I think it’s worth the $$ even if you’re not playing Pathfinder (and it was $26 at Amazon last time I checked, which is quite reasonable).

You did a review that I was gonna do next week. Lol. Now I have to ponder if it is worth it to do mine.. lol. Great review.. it really is an amazing book and a boon for a GM/DM.. No matter what system you play!
