I wish I was on the payroll, then I'd get free stuff. All kidding aside, I really like the book, what do you want me to tell you? I found nothing too bad to point out from my point of view, except what I mentioned at the top about it being useful for DM's running pre-published adventures. But for what it is, a book about metallic dragons, it's just fine. Now let me go back to my Seattle overlords to see what's coming next......... :)

I've always preferred Paladine to Bahamut. And the old man with the canaries has nothing on good ol' Fizban.

Nice detailed review, sir. Makes me want a book that I might otherwise pass up, that is an absolute positive.

Yeah, subdual encounters have been a part of D&D for a while now. This is just the 4e version of them.

Subdual damage has been an option for dragons for a long time, since AD&D, I believe. I seem to remember an old picture of a bunch of adventurers in a boat coaxing along a swimming dragon that looked like it had taken a few to many boots to the head.

They might be throwing a bone to combat length, but more likely, they are revisiting an old D&D tradition and showing how it can be implemented with 4e mechanics. More elegantly than the old systems, too.

Nice review! I have barely had a chance to browse the book and start on chapter 1. The book does look awesome though, and I am looking forward to reading it the rest of the way through. I did read the section on the Mercury Dragon fairly close, and I think that could be a cool dragon to introduce to my PC's.
